In the three-day tournament, he won the gaming hit Fortnite in “Battle Royale” mode against more than 5,000 other players.
“I still can’t believe I won this tournament. It was a brilliant tournament with hard opponents, but the effort was worth it in the end. I am happy that I could prevail against the others”, says Michael Schätzer about his victory and can be happy about the main prize: a HUAWEI P30 Pro, an ergonomic gaming armchair from AK Racing, a 100€ Paysafecard as well as an annual ticket for the AREA52, Vienna’s eSports Hotspot.
Already second Fortnite tournament of ESVÖ
The eSports tournament organized by the eSport Verband Österreich took place for the second time this year. This time in direct cooperation with the Fortnite Publisher Epic Games, who provided a custom server for the 100 gaming stations, so that all tournament participants could compete against each other live on site.
“The tension in the Grande Finale was felt throughout the A1 eSports Arena. The players played very tactically this year, Michael was able to keep a cool head in the final and with a fifth place, a first place and a second place in the overall ranking at the end had the nose in front”, Stefan Baloh, President of the eSport Association Austria praised the victory of the young Tyrolean.
The Fortnite tournament at the GAME CITY was the kickoff for a hot eSport autumn. The eBundesliga starts with 12 clubs in November. The final of the A1 eSports League Austria Season 4 is also scheduled for 9th November at the Gösserhalle in Vienna. Among others, the A1 eSports League Finals by Clash Royale, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and League of Legends can be seen here. Registrations are still possible.
