After the Fortnite World Championship is over and the Season X has officially started, it is time to take a look at the further planning in Fortnite eSport 2019.
The Fortnite team at Epic Games agrees and shared some information with the community yesterday, Friday. We would like to pass this information on to you at this point because the 40 million US dollars that were paid out within the framework of the Fortnite World Cup are only a part of the promised 100 million over the entire calendar year.
Two new competitions will be the focus of Fortnite eSports in the second half of the year. In addition to the Fortnite Champion Series, which will be established with Season X, so-called “Fortnite Spotlight Tournaments” will also take place.
Fortnite Champion Series
The Fortnite Champion Series is the next big eSport event in Fortnite. It is a tournament in which a series of matches are played, and the results are recorded in a permanent high score list. First of all, each region fights for itself from August 17th. In the first version of the tournament, the Fortnite Champion Series will be played in trios that will compete for prizes and the chance to qualify for the Season X Championship on four consecutive weekends.
This will be a kind of finale between the best teams from each region following the regional competitions. All regions will meet from September 20th to 22nd to crown the X-Champion season. As known from the World Championship and other tournaments, each event in the Champion Series will provide its prize pool. In total, there will again be a prize pool in the millions. An exact amount, however, is not yet known.
Fortnite Spotlight and other tournaments
Furthermore, the “Fortnite Spotlight Tournaments” in the Battle Royale of Epic Games are to be held next season. It’s a tournament series that “will focus on events organized and hosted by the passionate, talented, and creative members of the Fortnite community from around the world,” the official announcement said.
Also, during Season X, a number of smaller competitions will be held over the weeks, in which you can participate. According to the announcement, Solo Cups, including prize money, will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from August 21st onwards. The condition for participation in the cups on Wednesday is the candidate rank in the arena, for Thursday you must be “champion”. Trios-Cups with cash prizes will be added on August 23rd. These follow on from the Solo Cups and are scheduled for Fridays.
