Now what was already hinted at by rumours has come true. Blizzard loses another important employee.
If there’s any news from Blizzard, it’s that the past weeks and months have often been rather negative. Most of the time it’s about layoffs or layoffs. That’s the case again now. Another long-time employee, who has probably seen eSports fans in particular several times, is leaving the company. There have been rumours about this for quite some time.
Who leaves? With an announcement on the StarCraft II forum, Kim Phan, Blizzard eSports Global Product Director, explained that she had her last day of work at Blizzard on June 14.
Who is Kim Phan? Kim Phan has worked at Blizzard for more than 13 years and has been primarily responsible for eSports in recent years. She’s been in charge of games like Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft, and the StarCraft franchise. Under her leadership, the eSports team at Blizzard has grown massively from 6 employees to over 60 in the wedding.
That’s what Kim says to say goodbye: “Finally, Kim turns to the community and thanks to them:
Thank you for keeping me/us Blizzard faithful. I hope you never stop. Even when you haven’t heard from us, we’ve been listening. Also when we made decisions that you disagreed with, we listened (and learned). Never stop expressing your concerns and spreading what is important to you – it makes us all better.
Who will fill the role of Kim Phan next is not yet known.
By the way, Phan is not the first in the eSports section to leave. Nate Nanzer, the former head of the Overwatch League, has already joined Fortnite.
