Pete Alonso of the New York Mets beats his 53rd home run of the season. No rookie in the MLB had managed this before. The previous record-holder praises Alonso.
With his 53rd home run of the season, Pete Alonso set a rookie record in the Major League Baseball (MLB) on Sunday night.
The 24-year-old managed the feat at the 3-0 of his New York Mets against the Atlanta Braves in the third inning.
Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) set the previous record of 52 home runs two years ago.
“He will achieve a lot of special things in his long career. This is only the beginning and the first of many records he will break,” Outfielder Judge praised his successor.
