Greens demand ban on gambling now

Lower Austria should take Vienna as a role model, demands Green Party leader Helga Krismer. She wants the so-called small game of chance to be banned in Austria as well.
Since the legalization of slot machines twelve years ago, the losses for the compatriots – as well as the addiction potential of the customers – are enormous.
Krismer bases her new criticism on confidential information from the Novomatic group, headquartered in Gumpoldskirchen: “According to employees, this company has achieved a net amount of 1.3 billion euros since the introduction of small gambling in 2006”. According to the Greens, the proceeds from the widespread ban on gaming machines in Vienna will probably have amounted to more than 3.85 billion euros.
The fact that her former party colleague Eva Glawischnig is now responsible for sustainability and player protection at the company does not slow Krismer down: “The small game of chance should be banned in Lower Austria. And quickly!
