The Grand Casino Lucerne has also submitted an application
In Switzerland, the first four Internet casinos are about to be launched. The Swiss Federal Casino Commission (SFGB) has published corresponding requests from the casinos of Baden AG, Davos GR, Lucerne and Pfäffikon SZ. The first online games such as poker or roulette may in principle be offered from 1 July.
The supervisory authority published the applications in the Federal Gazette on Wednesday. Thanks to the YES to the new Money Gaming Act, casinos may also make games of chance such as poker or roulette available on the Internet under certain conditions.
First Internet casinos as of 1 July
The first Swiss casinos will generally be allowed to go online from 1 July. They must first have their games certified and approved. Finally, the Federal Council decides on the license applications.
Expansion of license necessary
In June 2018, the Swiss electorate said yes to the new casino law. This allows Swiss casinos to offer their games online under certain conditions. This requires an extension of the license. On 1 July, the legal basis for controversial so-called network blocking will come into force for Internet casinos. The SFGB and the Comlot lottery commission can instruct Internet providers to block access to the unlicensed casino and betting sites abroad, for example.
