The Mayor of Trafford gets his Kix at the new Airkix Indoor Skydiving, in Trafford Quays
Airkix Indoor Skydiving, the North West’s latest adrenalin-rush attraction, opened its doors on Thursday 14th January for the official launch of this state of the art, 4.5 million pound, 14ft diameter, 1600 HP wind tunnel. The Mayor of the Borough of Trafford, Councillor David Rees Higgins was accompanied by The Mayoress, Wendy Christine Higgins to cut the ribbon and declare Airkix Manchester OPEN!
The perfect partner to its well-established and hugely popular flagship tunnel at Xscape, Milton Keynes, the new Manchester Airkix at Trafford Quays, close to the Trafford Centre and right next to the Chill Factore ski slope has taken the title of the UK’s largest wind tunnel. Thursday saw a successful turn out, with guests enjoying the chance to fly in the 39ft tall tunnel and experience real human flight.
A selection of refreshments were provided by Chiquitos and served in the Airkix Bar, where staff were on hand to provide, teas, coffees and soft drinks in the furnished viewing area. The Mayor gladly took up the offer to try freefalling and wowed crowds with his natural skydiving ability.
