For the third time in four years, NFL star J.J. Watt’s season in the US professional football league is over early due to an injury.
“This game can be so beautiful and so brutal,” wrote the Houston Texans defensive end after the game against the Oakland Raiders (27-24) on Twitter, announcing its end at halftime of the main round.
Watt, five-time pro-bowler, injured his chest muscles and was taken to hospital for an MRI examination, according to the club. The Texans have not yet announced a diagnosis.
Watt hadn’t missed a single game in his first five NFL seasons, but he had already finished early in 2016/17 and 2017/18. “I’m disappointed that I can’t finish the season,” said Watt.
Before the eighth matchday, the 30-year-old had been number one in league with 20 quarterback hits.
