Renegades, Team Liquid and Natus Vincere, are the final teams for the main phase of the StarLadder Major Berlin in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. A total of eight teams will play for the title in the Mercedes-Benz Arena on Thursday.
In a tight match with three extensions, Team Liquid prevailed against Mousesports. The final score of 2:0 deceives about the close games with the results 19:17 on the map Mirage and 22:20 on the map Dust II.
Usually in CS:GO in best-of-30 mode, 16 lap wins are enough to win a card. If the score is 15:15, the game goes into extra time. Top favourite Team Liquid remains in the race for the Major title, while hopes for a German team in the main phase must be buried.
Team Natus Vincere’s victory over CR4ZY is mainly due to their players Denis “electronic” Sharipov and Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev. With a strong performance, CR4ZY took the card Mirage (16:11), but on Nuke (12:16) and Inferno (4:16) NaVi made the entry into the main round of the Berlin Major clear.
Renegades from Australia beat the French team G2 Esports 2:1 (16:11, 11:16, 16:9). After two failed encounters against NRG Esports and Avangar at the start of the preliminary round (“New Legends Stage”), the Australians beat DreamEaters, Faze Clan and G2 to catch up 0:2 in the table.
Faze’s exit also marked the end of an impressive run by Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer. The Swede had been represented at every CS:GO major in the main phase so far.
The New Champions Stage starts on Thursday with the quarter-finals Ence against Renegades and Team Vitality against Avangar. On Friday, the top match will be Team Liquid against Astralis and NaVi against NRG Esports. All matches of the main phase will be played in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin. The prize money is 1 million US dollars.
