Supercell presents the first Clash of Clans World Championship. The World Championship takes place from 25th to 27th October on the main stage of ESL One in Hamburg.
The world’s best Clash of Clans players compete against each other in the Barclaycard Arena for a total of one million US dollars, the largest prize pool in the history of Clash of Clans to date. Supercell announced the search for the world’s best clans earlier this year and invited the entire community to participate in the World Championship. Many of the fans have been playing Clash of Clans since the game was released seven years ago.
A series of online qualifiers – in which more than 40 million players competed in the new 5v5 mode – were followed by qualifiers in Katowice, Poland.
Each month, one clan (six clans in total) qualifies for the World Championship on the main stage of ESL One in Hamburg. The community will also vote on two other clans that will participate in the tournament as wildcards.
Three of the eight clans have qualified in the meantime: The German Tribe Gaming, Team Queso and Vatang.
A long community wish has been fulfilled
“The Clash of Clans community has been training their skills for years. Our team is honoured to offer the community a World Championship worthy of their enthusiasm for Clash of Clans,” said Marika Appel, Community Manager of Clash of Clans. “By partnering with ESL, one of Esports most respected organizations, we are excited to be taking this new path to bring Clash of Clans even closer to our community.”
“Playing against other teams at a World Cup is a Clash of Clans fan’s greatest dream,” said Chief Pat, CEO and founder of Tribe Gaming.
“Over the past seven years, it has been exciting to see Clash of Clans evolve from a small fan community into a global phenomenon supported by some of the world’s leading eSports organizations. As a fan of the first hour, I know how much the community wanted a championship. I’m honoured to be part of it with Tribe Gaming.”
“Clash of Clans has been one of the most popular games with a strong community for years. Team Queso is excited about the opportunity to bring some of the world’s best Clash of Clans players to a big world stage,” said Álvaro González, Founder of Team Queso. “Our team has worked hard to get us to Germany in top form, and we hope to win the trophy!”
